Las Terrenas
Las Terrenas has a main street that leads to the beaches, where are several small shopping centers: "Plaza Rosada", "Paseo de la Costanera", "Casa Linda" and "Plaza Taino",among other things. The range of products has a strong French influence by the settlement of the French in this region, which also offer their own designs.
Las Terrenas has well-stocked supermarkets, the benefit of both the community and long-term tourists.
On the beach there is a small beach mile, where you like to stroll along.
For night owls there are salsa clubs in Las Terrenas. It's worth stopping by there once.
Flat, with little or no breakers, good for snorkelling and to enjoy the multi-colored sky during the sunset.
These beaches in the west of Las Terrenas, can have strong surges at certain seasons; to the delight for those who love surfing.
The part west of Playa Bonita, from where you can see Cosón, always has calm water. In this area there are many excellent restaurants and traders that offer fresh fish, grilled or fried, right on the beach.
The beach restaurants at the "Pueblo de los Pescadores" directly in the center offer exquisite culinary creations.
TIPS ON GETTING THERE:
Who comes with its own vehicle, should definitely take the new highway from Nagua to Las Terrenas.
Although the rate of Moutr, one route 480 pesos (about 8 euros), but from there you have fantastic views of the north coast and you won’t like to go on..
The drive over the mountains is scenically a dream.
From Sanchez over the mountains, it takes a little longer than on the highway, but you should not miss this.
Bare in mind the streets are very steep, and sometimes very narrow and winding.
An adventure that is worth it.
A trip from Las Terrenas to Samana takes about 45 minutes, it’s about 39 km.
Caribe Tours offers daily bus service from Santo Domingo via San Francisco de Macoris, with a stopover in Sanchez, from where can be taken another bus or a taxi to the village of Las Terrenas (half an hour away). The same bus then continues his journey to Samana, from where you can take another transport to Las Galeras (less than half an hour away).
Also drive Metro buses from Santo Domingo to Samaná with stops in San Francisco de Macoris, Nagua and Sanchez.
Buses from Santiago offer twice daily trips to and from the city of Samaná and Las Terrenas, with several stops along the route, by which the journey can take up to 5 hours.
From Puerto Plata there is a public bus that leaves at 6am at the hospital from Puerto Plata to Samana. From then on, there aren’t longer fixed stopping times, since they stop anywhere where someone would like to be taken.
The trip takes until Samana about 5 hours and costs 300 pesos.
Adventure ride because everything go with also chickens, but it worth it, because you can view everything on the trip in peace and get in touch with the locals. In Samana there are then more transports to get to Galeras or Las Terrenas.

SAMANA
The Samaná Peninsula on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic is known for its impressive bay, which is visited annually in the winter months by hundreds, humpback whales.
Visitors from around the world come from mid-January to late March for whale watching.
On the peninsula there are three tourist destinations: Las Terrenas, Las Galeras and Santa Barbara de Samana, Samana briefly mentioned.
Upstream is the small island of Cayo Levantado.
Many years ago was shot one of the first Bacardi commercials.
The influences of the French, German, Italian and Spanish immigrants and people from English-speaking Caribbean islands play an important role in gastronomy, culture and religious particularities.
For those who are looking for an active holiday, a stay in Samana is worth, a paradise for ecotourism.
National Park Los Haitises
The excursion to the biggest estuary in the Caribbean (with an area of 740 km2) gives visitors a glimpse of the dense mangrove forests, the diversity of tropical birds and allows exploring various caves.
This tour cross the entire rock islands, which is upstream of the coast. To reach Los Haitises of Samaná, take the ferry to Sabana de la Mar and then a transport to the station of the Ministry of the Environment in the vicinity of "Caño Hondo" and afterwards one of the official leadership in the National Park.
In the Hotel-Restaurant "Caño Hondo" afterwards you can enjoy a delicious Dominican lunch.
The waterfall El Limón
Located halfway between Las Terrenas and the city of Samana, this waterfall can’t be missed on the program while visiting the peninsula.
Start with this 4-kilometer long climb in the early morning hours to reach the summit before the hot midday hours.
It is not recommended to do this walk in the rain, or when it rained the day before, due to the big accumulation of mud on the roads.
You can master the ascent with a variety of routes emanating from the cities rest on the roadside, on horseback or on foot.At the top, taking a bath under the waterfall as a reward for the extraordinary effort that falls from about 40 meters into a natural, crystal clear pool.
And then into the cool water.

one of the many scheduled flights that arrive at the international airport of Las
Americas (SDQ). In Las Américas, you can also rent a car, perfect for exploring the various interesting places of Samana; or you can take a taxi to get to the destination.
